Serving Others With Joy

Archbishop of Canterbury William Temple was quoted as saying that the Christian Church is the only organization that exists primarily for the sake of those who are not its members.  At St. David's, we understand that we are called to a life of service, just as Jesus came to serve others - not to be served by them (Mark 10.45).

We are called to lives of service, willingly giving of ourselves - our time, our talents, and our treasure - for the sake of the world.  In this way, we become a self-giving community that mirrors the agape love of Jesus as he gave Himself completely for the life of the world (John 6.51).

Our service is not grudging service, but joyful service.  The Christian life above all else is a life of joy in the Lord, for He came to make our joy complete (John 15.11).
